About

The Website

Feeling Negative? is all about the art of film photography. In the last decade, digital cameras have cannibalized the film market with their shiny new digital-ocity..ness (wtf is that?). So… Anyway! Film is back in style and we’re right here to help it along.

The rise of digital photography actually helped get a lot of people involved with photography, and now those people are looking for the next level (yeah, film). This blog is home base for the new-age film photographer, and we’re here to help you explore this amazing medium. We’ll be discussing things like old cameras and lenses, various films (expired and current), DIY equipment, darkroom stuff, and (grudgingly) computer stuff relevant to film photographers. We also have a strong interest in the film photography community, so we love to feature photos, articles, and equipment from our readers.

If you’re getting tired of your digital camera, this site is for you. If you want to expand your knowledge of the righteous path, this site is for you. And if you know more about film photography than we do, this site is still for you (we’d love to have you be a pillar of the community). And with that… here’s a quick intro to our two website masters.

The Authors

TOMAS WEBB

Don’t be surprised if the name doesn’t ring a bell – this guy is better known in silver circles as the_wolf_brigade. Born into the film era, he was raised on a diet of cheap 110 cameras and an Olympus XA for those special notable moments. While currently using formats stretching from 110 all the way to 4×5, knowing Tam, (as he’s also known), it won’t be long before 8×10 negatives are being processed in his home darkroom. This guy is insatiable in his desire to experience everything the film world has to offer.

You can also find him on flickr; a personal website is in development.

I Don't Have A Problem...

BRIAN AUER

While he doesn’t have any nicknames, you may already know him as the photographer/blogger from Epic Edits and the Fine Art Photoblog. He began his journey into photography at the dawn of the mainstream digital age and didn’t start shooting film for some years after. But once Brian discovered the amazing possibilities of film photography, his interest turned to habit and obsession. This turn of events ultimately caused his digital SLR to collect dust while his growing collection of old film cameras and darkroom equipment constantly churn out new material.

You can also find him at Epic Edits, Fine Art Photoblog, PhotoNetCast, and Flickr.

“THE DOCTOR”

Not to be confused with The Doctor (you know, the one with the blue box?), The Doctor spent time with the_wolf_brigade when he was undergoing his treatment for GAS*. Apparently the Institution was closed and the files destroyed; while no one is quite sure what happened to the staff. That is, except for The Doctor. Now on the run with copies of some of the files, he’s promised to answer any film questions sent in (no matter how extreme they might seem). Unfortunately we don’t have constant contact with him – he checks in when he can – so his answers may seem erratic and occasionally they may even take the place of a regular scheduled post. Needless to say, we can’t show his face lest he be identified….
