I could wax lyrically about my fascination with American muscle cars and the way the invoke a feeling not dissimilar to what I feel when I gaze upon a heavy mechanical medium format camera from the same era…but I’m not sure that everyone would quite understand!

Instead, it was more the composition that I wanted to highlight here. Photographically speaking, this shot has the interest strongly located in the bottom third, with the converging lines in the top third helping the car to stand out. It also locates the building as background interest, thereby making the car appear even more real.

I must admit, I’m also a big fan of Fuji 400H – in my experience it tends to give realistic soft pastel colours. In the case above, it has rendered the lighting in a way that (again) really helps the car stand out. I suspect that a touch of overexposure (from an average metering perspective) has also helped the quality of light.

I can’t urge you enough to click through and check this out in a large size. The clarity and detail is beyond stunning!
