Cross Process Ektachrome for the Blues and Greens!

A few months back, I featured my all time favorite cross processed film: Fujichrome Velvia 100. I’m fascinated by cross processing of slide film, and I’d like to highlight a few other options out there.

Kodak Ektachrome (or Elite Chrome) is another film I’m quite familiar with when it comes to cross processing. This is the stuff I started on, and I always seem to have it on hand (I bought a bunch of expired Elite Chrome a while back). Ektachrome has a very different look from the Velvia 100 — almost opposite, in fact. Be prepared to see vibrant greens and blues. Although this film tends to shift toward these colors, I’ve seen it turn out semi-natural looking too. It really depends on the chemicals used to develop and the white balance of the scanner/enlarger.

So, here are a few samples from my own archives and from other photographers on Flickr. And if you have your own example photos, be sure to drop the links in the comments!
