Sometimes I really wish I had an iPhone… and this is one of those times.
The Figital Revolution has a good little video review of the LightMeter iPhone app — an inexpensive light meter that uses the camera funciton of the iPhone 3Gs to determine correct exposure settings for those of us that shoot cameras without meters.
You basically just take a photo, set your ISO, and dial in the shutter speed or aperture. The application will give you the missing side of the exposure triangle, giving you all the information you need for your camera settings. The cool part is that you can see if you’re exposing the shadows correctly with the light meter because you can see the preview digital image on the iPhone.
Anybody out there use this application yet? And are there any other good iPhone apps for us film photographers?

I have it and it’s helped me a lot. Especially with the 3Gs phone you can focus on your subject which means the phone also adjusts the light settings for your subject. The app has never been wrong

There’s also the Massive Dev Chart app. Besides film development times, it has a multi-step timer. I’ve found it pretty useful.
